Tomorrow = 5k NLH
- Glen "2008 EPT Champ" Chorny | June 11, 2008
Tomorrow is the real start of the World Series for me. It marks the start of the 5k NLH tourney where we will begin with 10k. I look forward to playing tomorrow and doing my best to make it to the late stages with a big/workable stack!
Thursday is a sick day too but I might have to take it off if I bust from the 5k just to play the 10k headsup on Friday. I’ve marked the 10k headsup event on my calendar for the last 4 months and really wanted to perform well in it…
For now I’m going to go play some GTA4 on Xbox360 then hit the sack….
Good night and good luck

Monday Morning Updates

What’s up everyone?
So I played the 5k shootout on Friday and actually had a pretty solid table to play at in the first round; as Tony G (who played well) was the only familiar face at the table. I managed to put on a clinic and have a slight chip lead 4 handed (about 34k or so was my stack nearest was tony G with like 29ish) before getting coolered. So in this hand our unknown villain is playing decently aggressive raising a lot of limpers in or out of position preflop in hopes to take it down, especially blind versus blind. So I wake up with A4o and limp for 500(250-500 50A he has 8k less than my 34k). Typical of him he makes it 1700 more from the big blind. Expecting this I put in a 3bet making it 4200 more to go. He insta calls with A9o and I’m sitting there saying WTF to myself when he insta calls. The flop screwed me over really giving him the only sure-fire way he would ever win the hand from me. So the flop was AAQ…At least if an ace flopped I might have been able to win the pot on further streets. I could never win the hand here ever. On the very next hand I woke up on the button with two black sixes and had about 8.5k left. I made it 1700 to go from the button and the guy who had just had A9 against me 3bet me from the small blind to 6200 total. Tony G mucked in the big blind and I shipped after taking 20 seconds to think. He obviously called and showed A7hh and went running hearts. The turn was actually sick pairing the board above my hand and giving him a flush draw!!! Running good! Anyway I know for a fact that I should have played Tony G heads-up at the table at the very least. I was sad to see him lose his second round match but at least he won the first table with dignity.
So last week I took a pretty big break for once. I have been careful to save my endurance and desire to win for this week. I really want to ship the HU championship this week. We’ll see how I can perform though. I’ll probably take a couple pictures of Panorama towers later for you guys since I’ve heard there’s interest in seeing how pimp it is Hahira!
Today I am playing the $1500 shootout and will do my best to bring a bracelet back home!
Thanks for reading and Good Luck on the Felt!

Welcome to the WSOP!!
- Glen "2008 EPT Champ" Chorny | June 2, 2008
First off I would like to welcome you and thank you for reading! I hope you can learn/take something away from any nonsense that I put in this blog.
Starting off, I think that the changes to the World Series of Poker are amazing this year with the potential exception of the main event delay. (At least the length of the delay) This time last year the 1.5k at the beginning of the series made lines jam and sell out at the way the cage/registration was set up at the Rio. I just want to say thank you as a poker player and human being for not having to be put in that situation once again!
I moved into my new place a couple days ago. I rented a really sick 1800 square foot 2 bedroom place at panorama towers. This is very convenient because it is a 3 minute drive to the Rio from here. The place is very nice but obviously not cheap but I’ll be fine. To be honest, the views are probably worth the price alone.
I played my first WSoP event of 2008 yesterday. It was the gigantic $1.5k event #2. I believe this to be considered a turbo tournament which is filled with a minefield of donkeys and very few sharks. I just have a blast playing in these goofy turbo tournaments! Honestly, this one is one of the funniest and faster paced tournaments out there. I think if you were to compare it to an online tournament it would be the giant FTOPS 200 turbo on full tilt which ended within 3 and half hours of starting with over 2000 people! The tournament was very up and down for me but I managed to have a good sized stack going into the dinner break (18.5k). Yeah as soon as I came back I was card dead for a couple levels and had to make a couple of nice plays in order to maintain my stack which had dropped to about 16.5k. I ended up busting out after getting all in on a flop of Kx-8d9d with J7dd vs. Akhh. I turned a Jack and failed to improve on 19 outs when an off suit 9 fell on the river. Oh well! I wanted to gamble for a big stack and obviously I am never folding in that situation ever. Hands earlier in the day included me cracking kings with tens me cracking aces with aces(running clubs ship it) and me shoving 6kish with AJ and making AK and AQ fold face up???? Whew!

I was supposed to be in Vegas in time to play the 10k on Friday but a lovely traffic jam in Toronto (running good for me) that took me 45 minutes to go 3 miles caused me to miss my flight. Once I got to the airport they informed me that I could take the next flight @ 8:45 pm!!! Did I mention my flight was supposed to leave Toronto in the morning of that same day? Luckily I was a genius the night before and had stayed up all night. Soooooooooo I got a hotel room and crashed until like 6pm! I was no longer in zombie mode when I woke up; it was awesome!

Anyway I’m doing some running around today and will play in some cash games later on at the Rio or Bellagio. WsoP is back on tomorrow and things are only beginning! By the way, I’m dying to own the headsup event this year!
Good Luck to everyone playing and thanks again for reading!
