Getting Out In Public

I’ve had a pretty good week, on and off the felt. Off the felt, I’ve played a lot less this week. I actually took a couple of days off for a change. I re-introduced myself to the general public which is always kind of odd after staring at the computer day after day. I went out and shot some pool and had some laughs. I also read a couple books. I finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, then I started and finished Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko. Marcinko started Seal Team Six and is quite possibly the most hard core individual to ever walk the earth. Reading about his life experiences makes poker seem less taxing to say the least. Both are interesting reads. I even managed a bubble bath this week. Life is good…Mr. Bubbles ftw.

Now for the poker. The week was full of all the standard ups and downs. But I did have some nice highlights…

Last Saturday I finished 3rd in the Stars $100 1r1a turbo. I won a few big races down the stretch and made a couple timely leverage plays deep. In the end my AK got freerolled. Getting freerolled is always bad enough but this one was a little worse than normal because I ran into the other big stack when the third guy was crippled. Nothing I could do. These things happen and it all evens out in the end. If you worry about things you can’t control, the game will eat you up.

Today I shipped the $162 $50K guar on Stars. The prize pool was almost double the guar…gotta love the weekends. I had a lot of tables, looked up and I was three tabled with a stack. It seemed like there were a lot of inexperienced players deep so I was able to three bet regularly and chip up relatively easily. There were also a few very strong players left but I was able to avoid tricky spots with the psychos. I got head up with a nice chip lead and promptly bluffed it away. The guy wouldn’t fold so I basically just started using pot size value bets when I had it. He continued to call so I regained control. In the end, my AK held vs his AJ. I’m such a rock…always nice when it works out.

I’ll check back in soon…hope ya’ll have a good week.

Points Bonanza

Hey guys. I hope everything is good.
Poker was a rollercoaster today. I had a 5th in the $50 re-buy turbo and 3rd in the $100 2r 1a on Stars. I had 8th in the Nightly on UB. I also two tabled the Stars Nightly along with a couple others. I have to win a couple tomorrow to make up for all the close calls.
While I was grinding today I noticed I have an absurd amount of points saved up on all the sites. The only thing I can remember ever spending points on is the Stars security token which I highly recommend. You can’t ever be too careful when It comes to protecting your accounts.
Now that I’ve started looking around the stores on the different sites these points are burning a hole in my pocket. I’m considering doing most of my holiday shopping with the points. I know my girlfriend wants a camera so I’m thinking about getting the Canon Rebel. I think I could get gadgets and gizmos for pretty much all my family and friends without having to fight crowds and actually shop for gifts this year. Sounds like a good deal! On the other hand, I’m about to finish my basement and I think I could furnish it with electronics through points. I had my eye on the 60” flat screen, etc. Watching the games in style courtesy of Stars sounds fun. Anyhow, I’m just looking for some good values…I’d appreciate suggestions/warnings in the comments section.
Hopefully, I’ll have some stuff to talk about/wins to brag about in a few days. Until then…good luck at the tables.

Jeremy

There are good days and bad days, and this is one of them

It’s been quite a while since I wrote my introductory blog, but I’ve been playing a ton and haven’t taken time to sit down and write anything.
WCOOP on Poker Stars just recently ended. I had some deep runs, but nothing too special. I final table bubbled 1k Monday on Full Tilt. I’ve won some smaller tournaments though, so basically I’m just treading water every day…that’s how it goes sometimes…I’ll live.
I’m a big fan of college football and especially Clemson football. I wasn’t able to go to the game yesterday since I was playing. It wasn’t on TV so I couldn’t just set the DVR to watch it later. Initially I was thinking I would just have to settle for watching highlights later. The game was on espn 360 and I figured out late Friday night that you could run replays of games. Last night when I finished for the day I was able to watch the replay around 12 or 1am with my girlfriend and a buddy. 80,000 people were in town and I was able to avoid hearing anything about the game despite living just 10 miles away from the stadium. Since we knew we were going to watch the game, we decided to grill steaks and have a couple of beers. My girlfriend went to the grocery store to pick up all of the necessary supplies and came back with the biggest rib-eyes I’ve ever seen. These steaks were 2 lbs a piece and about 3 inches thick and we grilled them to perfection. We had a great meal and watched the game. Unfortunately, the tigers lost but it was almost to be expected. We’ve got a new coach this year and I’m not expecting magic overnight. Although “tailgating” at midnight in front of a computer is non-standard it’s great for me and I’d recommend 360 to any poker players that want to watch the games.
I’m in the middle of the Sunday grind and getting busy so I better focus on the tables.

Intro

Hey guys,

I’m excited to have the opportunity to blog for Bluff. I’ve never blogged before/rarely post in the forums so bear with me. I’ll be posting periodically about all of my swings and swongs etc.

A little bit about my poker background…I started out grinding small stakes on Bodog. At some point I luckboxed a $50K guarantee and caught the tournament bug. I used some of the winnings from that tourney to get some lessons for myself and a couple of buddies from The Maven. After that training I continued to grind the smaller stakes for quite a while. About 15,000 tournaments later, I now play just about all the mid/high stakes tourneys available as daisyxoxo and 00psiedaisy. Any given day that I play I’ll fire up between 50-70 tournaments so hopefully I’ll find some good stuff to talk about.

I’ll post something soon.

Take em down,
-Jeremy
