So I finally won a live tourney! Instead of playing the FTOPS last week, I decided to drive down to Borgata to play the $2K deepstack event. This is the 3rd time Borgata has run this tourney and it always gets a good field and the structure is great. I had a fairly easy time of accumulating chips the first 2 days of the tourney, and found myself around the middle of the pack going into the final 2 tables. I had been playing pretty loose and aggressive the first two days but realized the remaining field was much tougher and wouldn’t let me run them over. As much as I hated doing it, I forced myself to tighten up substantially. I ran pretty well at the final table and found myself 4 handed with 3 other very competent players. Usually I hate making deals, but I was the shortest stack, the blinds were pretty big, and the payout structure was very top heavy. Anyway, we each took 100k and left and extra 40k for 1st and 20k for 2nd. I picked up some big hands and ended up winning my first live tourney. It was a very cool experience.

My next live tourney will probably not be until PCA in January. Until then, I will continue looking for a home in the Philly area. I am also going on a road trip next month from Cali to Jersey. Hopefully, I’ll have some good stories for you all. That’s all for now.

So I haven’t updated my blog in a while, not too much going on since my last entry. I put in a lot of online volume during WCOOP with not much success. I think I only cashed in 3 events and ended up losing a lot of money. On the bright side, I finally won the Super Tuesday on Stars, a tourney that I’ve finalled numerous times but could never close. Other than that, not too much success online lately. No live success either; I played my first main event since WSOP (Borgata Open). I was able to build up a big stack and was among the chipleaders midway through day 2. Unfortunately, after a couple failed bluff attempts against the wrong opponents and some other less than perfectly played hands, I ended up busting late in day 2 pretty close to the money. I was pretty disappointed with my play, plus the Eagles lost to Dallas that night to make matters worse.

Anyway, I don’t really have any definite plans to play live until PCA, but maybe I will fit something in before then. My main goal for the immediate future is to purchase a home. After I take care of that, then I plan on traveling to more live tourneys.

That’s about all for now. Let’s go Phillies!!

I’ve had a lot of stuff going on in the past week I’d say. With the FTOPS going on I probably should have been playing in all of/most of the events, especially since I joined one of those team pools (I’m with hoodini10 and Michnak). Well, I kinda got a lil sidetracked and ended up missing most of the tourneys. So far I have only played in 6 out of 13 of the FTOPs event, and have yet to even cash in one. My goal is to just cash in one FTOPS event before it ends, haha.

So recapping the weekend, I went to the Jack Johnson on Thursday night with hoodini and some friends from home. Don’t really remember all that much but I had a great time. Friday, I played the FTOPS in the afternoon along with some other donkaments, but no cashes. At night I went to the Beach Bar at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. It’s a really chill spot so be sure to check it out if you’re ever in AC and want to go to a more casual place than the clubs. On Saturday I played the $2K deepstack tourney at Borgata which I was pretty excited for. It was my first live tourney since the Main Event. We started with 30K and I chipped up to about 85K after 3 levels of play. After dinner I got a little bored and donked off almost half of my stack, but went on a rush at the end of the day and finished with around 100K which was comfortably above average. After play ended I went out to Game On at Caesars with some fellow online players, Michnak, mman_status, and gboro780. Game On is another really fun more casual spot in AC. I didn’t really have a great night because of some drama with a girl…don’t really need to get into that. So Sunday comes around and I’m a little tired but ready to grind out a long session of tourneys. Well, it didn’t end up as long as I thought, because halfway through the day I realized I was on MEGATILT. I had alot on my mind and really just couldn’t focus, plus I wasn’t running to hot. I decided it would be best to unregister from all the nightly tournies which probably saved me a couple grand. 0 for 12 on the day-sweet. Monday rolls around and I’m back to Borgata to play day 2 of the deepstack event. I’m feeling alot better than I did on Sunday and ready to dominate some AC donks. Or so I thought. The third hand of the day I raise to 5200 from MP with KK at 1K/2K blinds. I’m playing with about 97K. The guy directly to my left calls as does the SB. Flop comes 973 rainbow. SB checks, I bet 10.5K, guy behind me folds and the SB asks for my chip count and then announces that he’s allin. I was pretty tired this early in the morning so I didn’t even bother to ask for a chip count on him, I just assumed that he was making a standard allin reraise of about the size of the pot, maybe a lil more. So i snap call. He says, “Shit, do you have trips?” looking really flustered. Then he flips over 77 and then I realize he has me covered. Whoops. GG me. So basically he raised me over 80K on top of my 10K bet with the 2nd nuts on a dry board. I walked away pretty confused, still not sure if my call was OK but I have seen people make some crazy plays in these tourneys. Oh well, at least I had the rest of the day ahead of me. I was pretty disapointed with how the past few days went so I decided to drive back home, play some tennis, and go see Pineapple Express which was really funny. I really needed to get my mind off the game and was hoping this would do the trick.

Monday night-no cashes, guess my lil afternoon off didn’t work. Tuesday-I’m really looking forward to the HA event b/c I love Omaha and I went deep in it last FTOPS. I register for that and the 109r and then FTP goes down. Sweet. Really Sweet. So I’m 1 tabling the 109r on my deck, kinda hoping that I bust out so I can do something else, but I keep hanging around and then win a couple big pots and am all of a sudden top 5 in chips. I go on to win the tourney, which was a huge confidence booster, my first online win in like 2 months I think. I wasn’t happy with the flattened payout of the afternoon 109r though. 333 runners and only 24K to first is really weak compared to 367 runners and 43K to 1st in the nightly one. Oh well, a win’s a win. After the win, I took last night and this afternoon off, really taking a lot of time off these days, haha. Looking forward to tonight though-there should be a lot of action, I’m pretty tired though from a long day at the beach so hopefully I will be able to stay up for all these juicy tourneys.

In other news: Tennis match between me and hoodini10 has been postponed, but expect hoodini to be rocking a new avatar for WCOOP after I beat him. My buddy mman_status just won another Sunday tourney (65K on FTP) making that 3 Sundays in a row with a 1st place finish-sooo sick, congrats. Oh, and I lived up to my prediction that I would win a tourney this month, hopefully I can snap off another one. Time to make some dinner before the nightly grind. GL all.

Hey everyone, this is the first blog I’ve ever done so bear with me here. I’m just coming off a profitable WSOP highlighted with a 12th place finish in the main event and a 2nd place finish in the $1500 Razz event. Both tournaments were very exciting for me and are my 2 biggest scores to date. I left Vegas feeling a little bittersweet after coming so close to a bracelet and the main event final table. Still, I am very grateful that I was able to run good enough to even put me in a position to contend for 2 bracelets. Since WSOP, I haven’t been playing much online at all; I think I just needed a long break. I plan to get back into the grind this week, even though my version of a grind is much less volume than most of the online pros. I’m looking forward to my first live tourney since the main event this weekend; there is a $2K deepstack tourney at Borgata. Last time they held this tourney they got over 800 runners and I pure bubbled the final table, haha, so maybe this time I can get there. After that, I wouldn’t mind actually going deep in an FTOPS or WCOOP event, which I haven’t had much success at all in the past with.

Since getting back from Vegas, I had to move out of my apartment in beautiful Camden, NJ and am now living by Atlantic City for the time until I find my own place. It kinda sucks around here because most of my friends live around Philly, so I’m hoping to buy something around there before the end of the year. In other news, I have been challenged by Joe “hoodini10″ Udine to a tennis match this week-still haven’t decided on a wager yet. It should a lot of fun to put him in his place. Other than that, I’m going to the Jack Johnson concert this week with a bunch of friends. I’m not really that big a fan but concerts in the summer are always a lot of fun. I plan on living up to my name of SLOPPY KLOD at the tailgates, haha.

Other Stuff: Congrats to mman_status for winning the 109r last Sunday and the 55r this past Sunday for over 100K total. I played Wii for the first time this past weekend and it was amazing so I’m gonna splurge and buy myself one. Downloaded the new Nas album last week and it’s better than I expected. I predict I will win 1 tournament this month.

That’s all for now.
