Howdy folks! This is my first blog.

Right now I’m at home getting ready to play day 2 of the $1500 NLHE event #2. There are 447 players remaining out of 3929 entries, with 378 getting paid. I have 38,500 in chips and the average is around 26,000. Yesterday was a good day… I played well for the most part and ran good also. I love these small buy-in events…there are alot of inexperienced players to prey on. I accumulated most of the green 25 chips at my table by stealing lots of blinds and antes. Actually, I had a pretty tough table draw yesterday with Joe Sebok, Arnold Spee, Shawn Buchanon, and Lee Watkinson, plus one or two tough internet kids. Most tables had one or maybe two pros so we were a seriously stacked table. But I was happy that I played well and stayed focused all day… Finally feel like I’m in WSOP high gear! Funny, for several months I would tell anybody who’d listen that I was really hyped for the WSOP and was going to be 100% coming in. In actuality, I stumbled into event #1 ($10,000 PLHE Championship) 40 minutes late, and then fell flat on my face as I busted myself out in 20 minutes by severely overplaying top pair (I shoved after a bet and a raise and was up against a set). Not quite the start I was hoping for!

That was Friday. Saturday I decided I needed to clear my head so I went out for a hike in Red Rock… that did the trick. Nothing like fresh air and exercise to revitalize you. From there I went straight to the Rio to play the 5pm $2250 HORSE Mega Satellite… I made the final table! Ha ha, well there were only 12 entries and I busted in 4th getting no money. They didn’t get enough players to give away even one seat so first place got 25k cash (actually tournament buy-in chips). My buddy Noah Jefferson made a deal and chopped that up which was cool.

Before I finish, I wanted to mention how much the logistics of the WSOP has improved since last year. They have dedicated registration rooms, satellite rooms, and nicely color coded and numbered tables. Also, they opened up a few days early which allowed people to early register, thus avoiding the nightmare lines of last year. Plus they have new food options, including a temporary sushi/noodle kitchen which is very nice. All in all a big improvement.

Oh yes, BTW congrats to my neighbor Nenad Medic for winning the $10,000 PLHE Championship!

Well, I’m off to swim some laps and then heading to the Rio to try to make the final table of yesterdays $1500 event.
