Just want to put up a quick update for you guys…

I ended up getting backed for the 10k WCOOP but after throwing up twice that morning from a terrible hangover, I played terrible and busted quickly. I then busted the $3mil WCOOP in 15 minutes and the $1k 2nd chance in 15 minutes.

Fornutately, I got some water and food and stayed composed for the rest of the day. I took a viscious beat in deep in the 2nd 100r AK to AQ to have a top 5 stack with 30 left and busted 25th, but ran hot deep in the 200r to get on a stack of about 300k and cruised the rest of the way to heads up with a 1.4mil stack. I chipped my opponent (KoolKeith) down to 440kish when i had 1.6mil and then lost A9 to 88 and AJ to 55 to take 2nd for 38k. It was the 2nd sunday in a row where I ran pretty bad heads up to leave a lot of money on the table, but I definately liked the $38k part of it!

Today I woke up, pissed some excellence, and took 4th in the 100r for another $12k. I had to give Brent some of my profit from the 200r win since we had swapped 15%, but after buy-ins (excluding the 10k) I managed to have a nice $42k upswing in 2 days!

I’ll be playing the $500 NL event at Borgata tomorrow morning, and heading back to SC on Thursday. Its definately been a ton of fun being in A.C. with my Vegas friends and I feel like I’ve sort of “recharged” my poker batteries.

Really looking forward to making some noise in the live poker scene in October at Bellagio…

OK, time for bed, hopefully I’ll wake up for the $25/50 level tomorrow, I’ve missed 3 in a row!

Hello all…

So we’re in the borgata chillin on this saturday night. I’m currently two tabling online and watchin the Florida vs Miami game. We ordered a bottle of Grey Goose and are planning on getting thoroughly trashed tonight after a miserable week of tourneys.

I mincashed the Borgata Open Event 1 busting 76th of 1300ish, after having a pretty large stack near the bubbe (90k at 1500/3000/500). Sigh. Event 2 was loads of fun, losing AQ to T4 all-in on a QT2 4 board, (nice overcall on the turn sir) then 99 to 55 all-in on a 678 flop where he called a 3bet shove on the flop. The guy then called for a 4 on the turn and said an audible “woo-hoo!” as he two fisted his hands in the air like Rocky after he climbed the stairs in Rocky 1. Seriously.

The $1k and $1.5k sucked, Brent (bhanks11) lasted 11 hours in the 1k and I lasted 9, but no cashes. Today I busted the 1.5k after never really getting anything going. Online has been pretty lousy lately too (see the HH at the bottom) but that’s to be expected playing MTTs for a living. The variance can drive a person insane, but I’ve started to get used to it and have learned to laugh off the bad beats more. Taking a bad beat usually means you played well, so in the longrun, its going to make you money.

I’m hoping I get to play the 10k WCOOP tomorrow and will definately be in the $500 3mil. I had to blind out of the WCOOP Event 1 cause I was still in the 1k downstairs, so I’m looking forward to paying my 1st event. I’ve only played 1 or 2 other WCOOPs (a random 1k last year and maybe one more).

Anyways, I took a horrible beat in the 100r on FTP today after I got back to the room from the 1.5k. This pot was to be 3 of 32. First was 26k.

So last week I played Sunday – Wednesday with just one final table. I got 3rd in the FTP $150 40k for 7k which was nice I guess. I played probably my C+ game all week tho. I found myself tilting way to easily and just not taking it very serious in general. I’ve got the new condo almost finished tho. Got the furniture delivered on Wednesday and went and got my mattress as well. Its nice to finally have a bed to sleep on and couches to sit on. LOL.

Anyways, my two roommates and I will be heading to A.C. on Tuesday for 8 days. I’ll be playing atleast the 1k the 1.5k and a couple other tourneys, and putting them in some other smaller ones. Bhanks and his roommates will be there as well, so it’ll be a lot of fun chillin with all the guys I stayed with this summer.

I’ll be playing all day today, then putting in a small volume tomorow. Wish me luck!

Thanks for reading and gl at the tables…

Hey all,

Sorry for the break between posts, but after playing everyday for two weeks during the FTOPS, I decided to take it easy last week. For those of you who dont know, I recently moved to Charleston, SC and have been living in an unfurnished apartment for the last month or so. But Ashley Furniture called last week and we’re getting furniture on Wednesday! Monday last week I went and got a lot of stuff for the apartment and ordered a pretty sick pool table. It got here on Friday, and we also set up the TV and surround sound. Last weekend I went up to Virginia with my two roommates and my girlfriend to see one of my good friend’s from Aiken get married. It was about 7 hours of driving, which kinda sucked but we broke it up and drove in shifts so it wasnt too bad.

I only played Tuesday and Wednesday last week, with nothing really exciting happening. So after a nice little break I’m definately ready to get back at it. This morning we woke up and went to the beach, which was really nice. I got my mind focused and ready to play, so hopefully I’ll be able to put up a good score today. The Warm-Up just started, so I’ll stop rambling now.

As always, thanks for reading, and gl at the tables!

Well, after losing a couple pots, I two barrelled 9 high into phatchoy888 and got called to slide down to around 30k. Soon afterward, I raised 89o to 1800 in the SB a few orbits later and phatchoy reraised to 4800 in the BB. I had been pretty active and with the stack sizes, I thought it was a good spot to be 3betting lite. With 7200 in the middle I would add over 20% to my stack if I got a fold, and I decided to shove. It wasn’t the worst shove ever, but in this structured tournament, with 50 BBs still, I think it was pretty damn spewy and definately unnecessary. He called with AA and even tho I made a 9 I couldn’t improve and I lost a massive pot right near the bubble. Sigh. 8 hours of intense poker and I make one huge mistake to bust. Poopy.

Gonna chill in the apt for the night, maybe play some beerpong and I’ll be back at it again tomorrow…

I cruised once again in the 100r to the money. I was never all-in all tourney until there were 2 tables left. I won a key hand early against my buddy usourcek, outflopping his KK with QTs, and on a QTxxx board he called my river shove. From there I played pretty LAG, winning a nice pot with JJ < TT all-in pre, and KK < AK all-in pre. I still had yet to be all-in once, when I lost this hand:

Some people get big scores and think they’ve finally achieved their goal, and end up putting in less and less volume. Usually their play at the table declines, because they just dont care as much. They become complacent, less focused, and usually think they are way better at poker than they actually are. Not with me.

After having far and away the best weekend of poker in my short career, I’m even more determined now than ever to put up another huge score. Neither of my two scores was an outright victory, and the sour taste of a third place finish in an FTOPS event is still in my mouth. I’ll probably be putting in less volume now, but it will only be so that I can concentrate more on the bigger tourneys. On Saturday, the only tourney I played was the FTOPS 100r, and being able to dedicate my entire focus to one table was really sweet. I seemed to have everyone pegged and usually knew where I stood in every hand.

However, like I said, I still dont have an FTOPS jersey. In poker, there is ALWAYS room to improve, and looking back at my play this weekend, I still have a lot of areas to work on. I played 5 tourneys yesterday and cashed 3, FTOPS 11, the 2pm 100r, and the Stars nightly, but no final tables. Definately playing some sick poker lately. I’ll be playing every day for the next couple weeks, so hopefully more big scores to come!!!

So……

After playing some of the best poker of my life last week I decided I would put all of my focus into the 100r FTOPS event 10 on saturday and see how far I could go… I got 3rd for 63k. I think it was the best tournament I ever played, and I got unlucky a couple times 3 handed or I woulda won the thing. 127k for first woulda been disgusting, and too be honest, I was definately disappointed afterwards. I didnt really know how to feel, since I wanted the win SO bad. plus another 60k would be nice…

Well, I decided, screw it. Why not make another final table, and again, I played some of my best poker today. I cashed the first 100r, busting AK to QQ for a monster pot, cashed the sunday mil, and cashed the 2nd chance… meanwhile, maintaining a big stack the entire way in the stars 250k all the way to HU. I chopped that beotch for 83k (BOKPOWER took 2nd for 81k). The field was sickkkkkkkkk, and to say that I chopped that tourney for the win is a great accomplishment in my book. I think I played absolutely flawless poker, and its about damn time I put together another sick run.

I’m also currently leading the FTOPS leaderboard, with 222 points. I dont really know what you get if you win tho. a jersey?

ok, time to get some sleep since I’ll be back at it tomorrow…

oh, and yeah, I’m still probably gonna win an FTOPS.

Well, I’ve put in about 40 more MTTs in the last two days with out a FT still. Yesterday I cashed 5 tourenys, including FTOPS event 1 (busted with AA to KTcc on a Kcc board) and the FTP huge 100r (busted AQ to 77 on Q72 board) in 24th. Today I made deep runs in a ton of tourneys earlier, the 100r, 50r, 40k, 25k etc, with no results. I busted the 25k KO on FTP in 15th after losing back to back races. I also built a huge stack in FTOPS event #2 Omaha H/L, up to 19k at one point, then lost a monster 34k pot all-in on the turn with 12 outs. meh. Then I got to the FTOPS shootout and decided to focus as best I could. I slowly chipped up in round 1 and won a couple key flips HU to advance, then totally dominated round 2, including this hand…

on the flop i saw his c-bet as very weak often weighted towards AK and thought a check-raise might take away the pot. his instaflat put two hands in his range imo… AQ and AK. I dont think he’d play AA KK QQ JJ that way, so they are eliminated from his range. I bet the turn with the intention of calling a shove. He would snap flat again with AQ if he had that, and if he shoved it would have to be AK. On the river I check called since AQ will never shove for value there, too easy to be beat by KK, QJ, JJ etc etc.. The only hand in his range on the river that will 3bet small, cbet small and snap a reraise on flop, flat on turn, shove river… was AK. I was thinking all this during the hand, and snapped his river shove.

I screwed up real bad in round 3 to bust 36th. I think I’m feeling the pressure to win so much I’ve been pressing lately, not really letting the good hands come to me late. I’ve been getting it in poorly too, so maybe I still have a few things to work on with my late game. I’ve really started to crush the early and midgame levels lately, just need to work on closing better and the scores will come… FTOPS 4 and 5 tomorrow!

I ran bad today. And I’ve ran bad all week. Its getting comical at this point, but I think it can only lead to one result…. I’m going to win an FTOPS. I’ve always ran bad in those and its high time I pull off a 100k+ score and get an FTOPS jersey. I’m very due. In my opinion, I’ve actually ran below my expectation in the first half of this year. I’m on the verge of exploding for something huge and with so many monster tourneys coming up in the next couple weeks, the timing couldnt be more perfect. I’ll be playing online every day for the next few weeks and I figured I can put up and daily blog entry for a while. See if I can’t track my success in this FTOPS!

Hello everyone,

I’m finally all moved in to my new apartment in Charleston and I’m ready to get back on the grind. After a rough WSOP I’ve been wanting some time away from poker as much as possible, to get myself resituated and refocused. I’ve been putting in a pretty good volume, with no luck late in tourneys with key coinflips etc. Anyways, I got the desktop set up this weekend and put in a huge volume today. I hit two final tables today and busted in a wonderful 9th and 7th in each. Pretty annoying, but lol, its just another typical Sunday. Lost a few k, but coulda been worse I guess. Such swings.

I started a new video for my training site, www.pokerpwnage.com yesterday for my 5r win on PokerStars. It went well and the first 2 parts should be up soon. I should be putting up 3 videos over the next 3-4 weeks as well.

Well, its 4am now, so I’m bout to head to sleep. I’ll be playing online just about every day for the next couple weeks with the FTOPS comin up, so time to get rested up!

Phil

EDIT: The HH that was posted on my last blog entry was me trying to bust the tourney on purpose so I could do something else.

Hello all,
It’s been a couple weeks since my last update, so sorry for not keeping you guys updated, but I have been extremely busy. I’m currently on an airplane flying back to Las Vegas for the remainder of the WSOP. I flew back to South Carolina on Sunday to spend time with my girlfriend for our two year anniversary and chill for my brother’s 22nd birthday. I had a lot of fun seeing them and a bunch of other friends and also used the time to sign a lease for my new condo in Charleston. I’m super excited about moving down there to be closer to Katie, and in my opinion, Charleston is one of the finest cities to live in. Being in Las Vegas for a few weeks, I really missed that southern hospitality’ that is so common in South Carolina – and Charleston in particular. The restaurants are phenomenal, and since I’m a big seafood guy, there are an endless number of places to choose from. I’ll be flying back to SC after the Main Event to get started furnishing and moving into my new condo, but hopefully I can get a big score in the next couple weeks for a down payment to buy the place.

The World Series has been SO much fun and I’ve learned so, so, so much about live poker. There are a lot of VERY significant differences between live and online poker, and the more I’ve learned about how live opponents react to certain bet-sizes, situations, and behaviors, the better I’ve done. I cashed 4 of the 14 tournaments I played, and considering 10% or less of the field makes the money, that’s actually a pretty solid performance. My last score was 131st in a $1500 event after losing JJ to AQ all-in preflop for 2x the average. For the 2nd time this series, the guy that took my chips (Thugmoneymaker) went on to finish 2nd for a huge score, while I was appeased with a measly $3k. What’s sick is that it was actually the first time I was all-in all tournament, which shows just how good I was playing. Sigh. I took the race well, not moving out of my seat as the cards were being turned over, and graciously exited after the blank river fell. I think I have been pretty immature at times during my short poker career, and one of my biggest new goals is to always remain gracious in both victory and defeat.

I plan to play 4 more events this year – the noon tourneys on Friday, Saturday, and Monday (all no-limit hold’em) and the $10k Main Event. My confidence is at an all-time high right now, and I fully expect to make another deep run. I really feel like I’m on the verge of something huge, and with a little luck falling my way, I might be able to pull off a big score. It really is incredible how many big name players have won bracelets this year, and it would be incredible to add my name to that list. After only playing two events last year, I really didn’t get a full appreciation for what a bracelet means, but now I understand why every poker player wants one. And I’m not gonna lie, I want one REAL bad. I plan on learning all the games and playing 30+ events in 2009. Either way, I got 4 more shots this year!

A couple other things that I’ve started working on are reading Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize winning book An Assault on Reason. I’m not a big political guy, but I stopped in a book store in the airport on the way to SC and picked it up. It’s a really interesting read, and he makes a lot of good points. I think its always a good idea to learn new perspectives on our world, and then use your own past experiences and logic to form your own opinions of the way things are. Like the vast majority of our society, I feel extremely uneducated about what’s happening in the world, and with one of the biggest elections in our nation’s history coming up, I think it’s a good idea to get at least a small clue about what’s going on. Barack Obama may very well end up being the first black President ever, and sadly, I know very little about his politics. I might not find much about him that I like, but I would like to know about him all the same.

I’ve also started putting in a lot of my free time on my new poker training site, www.pokerpwnage.com, and it really seems to be taking off. We are having some excellent discussions in the forum section, and I’ve started doing some personal lessons as well. My videos are getting a tremendous amount of positive feedback, and I look forward to making more of them after this WSOP is over. As more and more people join, I think we could end up making PP one of the best training sites on the net. Our core group of pros can rival any on the net as far as an understanding of the game, especially tournaments, and I expect a lot of us to make some serious noise in the poker world over the next couple years. I hope you decide to check it out!

Anyways, it’s about time to wrap this thing up, so thanks for reading and wish me luck!

Hi guys,

So far this WSOP has had a lot of ups and downs. I made 34th in a $2k event busting with a set vs a flush draw for a MONSTER pot. If my hand holds there’s no doubt I make a final table. I thougtht I was playing perfect poker and suddenly felt like I had been hit by a freight train. Not gonna lie, busting 34th was one of the most disappointing moments in my short poker career, and I think my play in the last few tourneys has been significantly worsened because of it. I’ve been pressing too many small edges for big pots and taking too many flips, meanwhile running like crap.

Fortunately, there has been a bright spot in bhanks’ 5th place finish in a $2500 NL event for $175k. I feel even more motivated to hit a final table now I spent all day today getting refocused. I played some basketball for a couple hours this morning, layed out at our house by the pool, and then went to the RIO spa and salon for a haircut and a massage. I spent most of the day rethinking hands I’ve played this WSOP and different ways I can improve. By far the biggest areas I have to improve is in my patience, and ability to fold big hands (like JJ, its not the nuts phil). Anyways, we saw The Happening tonight at 11 30 and I’m not a scary movie kinda guy, so I thought it was pretty damn freaky. Sure that’s really gonna help me sleep well tonight, lol.

So, I’m playing the $1500 event tomorrow and I’m totally ready to play my A+ game tomorrow. Sometimes you just know you’re about to play your best poker ever, and I’ve got that feeling right now. Hopefully I’ll take down one of these events, cause I want it REALLY bad.

Meanwhile, make sure to check for updates on me at www.pocketfiveslive.com and check out my new training site at www.pokerpwnage.com. The forum on there is kicking with some great discussions and the videos are some of the best on the net imo. With member giveaway tourneys every week for free personal coaching lessons from the pros, now is a great time to join while we mold the site into hopefully one of the best on the net.

Well, time to say goodnight. Wish me luck tomorrow and thanks for reading!!!!

So far this WSOP has been very exciting. The atmosphere in the Amazon Room is incredible and I have been so focused and on my A game. I lasted about 8 hours in Event 2 but busted short of the money when my JJ ran into AA. The $1500 PL HE event was over in 45 minutes for me when a bad call and a lost flip found me on the rail. Then I proceeded to drop 5k in the $1k rebuy and quit when my KK lost to 44 after getting it in on a Q64 flop (I had 10x’ed it pre when 5 ppl limped. nice flop sir.). I was too tilted to be in for 9k and have the minimum, and since there were only 5 minutes left in the rebuy hour I just walked away.

I was very proud of how composed I stayed. I went to our suite at the RIO and proceeded to play perfect poker online, cashing the Super Tuesday in 20th for $2k and chopping the 100r heads up for $20.5k. My confidence was at an all time high today entering the 2k event, but after 4 hours I still only had a starting stack. Fortunately, at 150/300/25 my 99 held against Jon Friedberg’s QKs for a 9k pot and I was off to the races. I reached 27k without a showdown (really owning the table), and finally got moved to a new table. I check-shoved AKs on a Jh 9s 4c board and my opponent tank called with KJo and I bricked to drop to 17k.

I then had a sick double up where I limped 8To in the SB at 400/800/50. The big stack in the BB checked and we saw a K84 flop. I led 900 to induce a reraise, and sure enough he made it 2700. I flatted and it turned an A. This was a great card for me cause I was almost positive he didnt have an A either. He bet 4200 and I called. The river K was again a total blank and after I checked again, he put me all-in for another 9.5k and I called. He sheepishly turned over T3. ship it. I played pretty TAG from there and after getting moved to my 3rd table, the same guy showed up on my left again, and proceeded to hand me the rest of his chips. I slowplayed QQ and let him bluff into me once for a nice pot, and then had my AKh hold against his QTs. That put me up to 70k at 600/1200/100 on the bubble with the average around 40k. I lost a 50k pot with TT to AA, but got it all back letting a superLAG big stack try to bluff me off AJ on a KJ44 board. Like I suspected, he later told me he had air. I shoved the turn after his 14k bet, but I really wish I would have played it like the 8To and just called again to let him bluff the river. Oh well. He said he wasn’t gonna bluff the river, so I guess I’ll believe him.

Anyways, I have now officially cashed a WSOP event for the first time, and I have almost 2x the average going into Day 2. I fully expect to make the final table, and I REALLY want a bracelet. Not to mention the $550k for first. Run good live one time?!?!?

Hello all! Just want to do a quick update before the WSOP. Its about 12 45 here in Vegas, and since I’ll be playing the $1500 event tomorrow, I’m planning on getting into bed shortly.

Little recap on my online play lately…. I final tabled the 100r on Tuesday, and IMO completely dominated the final table which including the likes of Belowabove, gboro, PearlJammed and a few other solid 100r regulars. I proceeded to jump out to a sizeable chiplead with 4 left, but after losing 3 straight all-ins to gboro (KT > AJ, AK>77, and AK>TT) I was out in 4th for 9.8k. Woulda been nice to win, but hopefully that just means I got rid of all my runbads before the WSOP starts.

I’m so excited to play I dont know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight. I’m staying at a house with 6 other guys, including top tourney players bhanks11 and FU_15, and I definately expect us to make some noise this year. Bhanks and I were fortunate enough to be invited to the Bluff Magazine kickoff party last night in the Tao nightclub at The Venetian, which was a lot of fun. I was able to meet Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Matt Parvis, and a few others. Everyone seemed really nice and happy to meet me, so thank you Bluff for inviting me.

This WSOP I plan on playing between 15 and 25 events, mostly PL and NL holdem. I’ve sold a little bit of action to let me play more events on my limited bankroll, but if I do well in the early tourneys, I’ll probably branch out into the HORSE games as well. For those of you interested in following my progress, make sure to check out the pocketfiveslive.com website. They should be keeping track of my chip counts and noteworthy pots.

I took the entire day off today, layed around by the pool and relaxed. My mind is definately in the right place to play my absolute best, and with a little luck, this WSOP could bring big, big things. Wish me luck!!!!!

Since my last update I’ve put in a little bit of volume and on Thursday I won my third $12k Main Event package in the FTP $1k satty. I think I played pretty close to my A-game throughout and ran pretty well too. I won a few big pots and got to the chiplead with 30 left or so and 6 seats being paid. I played aggressively, trying to chip up slowly, without risking much of my stack, and remained the chipleader for pretty much the rest of the tourney.

Also, I had my first article published on pocketfives today and I’m really proud of it. Its about the thought-process that successful poker players use to navigate their way through each hand, and hopefully you guys will like it. They also asked me to be a guest on the pocketfives podcast this week and I did my phone interview earlier today. I was actually really nervous, cause I didnt want to say anything stupid, but I think it went well. It should be out on Thursday or Friday. I’m supposed to do another interview for CardPlayerTV as well when I get out in Vegas (I’m flying out Wednesday), so I’ll keep you guys posted on that. Oh, and my videos for the new training site are going great and I can’t wait til they’re released.

I’m currently down in Charleston trying to find a condo for the next couple years and one-tabling the $1k Monday. Hopefully I can hit the FT again this week! Wish me luck!!!!!

I had been running pretty horrible lately, continuously getting deep in big tourneys and busting for a small cash. I took Friday and Saturday completely away from poker to try to get my head straight. I even missed the $2500 FTOPS. I had been having computer problems all week, even having my FTP account closed for a day due to security concerns. I barely played any volume, knowing that I just wasn’t in the right mindset to play well anyways (probably getting a little burnt out after such a killer April). I went to a wedding on Saturday and hung out with a lot of my friends and really had a good time. Sunday I thought I played some great poker, but didn’t come up with anything big.
However, Monday I took 2nd in the 1k Monday on FullTilt for $58k. I think I played a flawless tourney, and only lost because my KK lost to AQ 8 handed to the eventual winner and then had AK run into his KK heads up. Sigh. I’ll definitely be doing a video of the win in the next few days for my new training site (released June 1st, stay tuned&). I also really did need a big score, especially with the WSOP coming up. I don’t have near the bankroll I would like to be able to play all the events, but this should definitely help me play a good number of them. I’m selling off action in big chunks to anyone that’s interested and reputable, so shoot me a PM on P5s if you’re interested and I’ll get back to you.

Speaking of Pocketfives.com, I just checked the site and I have moved into the top 10, with my debut at the 10 spot. The 1k Monday score isn’t even added yet to their sliding PLB, so next week it should be even higher! It feels awesome to have reached one of my big goals in poker, to be in the top ten, and I can’t believe its happening this fast. At this pace, its gonna be fun to see where I’ll be at in the poker world two years from now. I’m really excited for where I’m headed and can’t wait to crush the WSOP. I’ll be in a house with bhanks and FU_15 (both total sickos) all summer, and I really think we could be the next poker crew.

I’d also like to thank Bluff Magazine for hosting my blog. It is truly a pleasure and I hope to keep this updated as much as possible. Thanks everyone for reading, and good luck at the tables!!!

I grew up in Aiken, SC and went to South Aiken High School. I graduated near the top of my class and began attending the University of South Carolina in the Fall of 2003. My start in poker began my freshman year, playing for $5 with friends in dorm rooms. I did well in our games and eventually made a few $50 to $100 deposits online, usually grinding up to a few hundred dollars before blowing it all in one hand of a higher limit cash game. I had little to no bankroll management at first, but eventually I learned the ropes and starting building a bankroll at the $.25/.50 ring games, while playing a few tourneys on the side. I read every poker book I could get my hands on, always trying to improve my play with each new session. My first big score came in January of 2007 with a $7.2k win in a $75 MTT on FullTilt. I started playing some higher limit cash games, $2/4 to $5/10, and more MTTs. I graduated USC in May 2007 with a Business Administration degree and decided to start playing poker full time for the summer. I planned to go to law school in the fall, but after a huge rush in June and July, I decided to keep playing poker full time. Thus far, I have had over $1 million in online tournament cashes, with my biggest win coming in January of 2008 for $70k in the FullTilt $1k Monday. After the win, I really started putting in more volume in the large buy-in tourneys online, always steadily working and improving my game until I began winning more and more. I have two wins in the Stars $100r’s this year for $18 each, a win for $48k in the Stars 2nd Chance Sunday major, and 2nd place finishes in their Nightly $100k and Wednesday $150k for $18k and $31k each, along with numerous other wins and high finishes. I am currently ranked just outside the top 10 for the pocketfives.com world-wide rankings at 11th, am 7th in the Online Player of the Year race for CardPlayer.com and 2nd for Bluff Magazine’s OPOY. My goals for the rest of 2008 are to play as many WSOP events as possible, win each OPOY race, and be the number one ranked player on pocketfives. I don’t know how many of those I can realistically expect to win, because so much luck is involved in poker, but if I continue to improve, I really feel like I can play with just about anyone in no limit hold’em tourneys. Additionally, I plan to work on my online cash game skills after the WSOP, hopefully working my way up to a profitable $25/50 player. I am the type of person that is never satisfied with being second best and hope you will enjoy reading my new blog and following my progress. I will also being doing training videos and chat sessions for a new training site starting in June so stay tuned for that. Thanks so much for your thoughts and comments, and please feel free to leave any feeback you may have. Good luck at the tables!!!
