FINALLY
- Chris Klodnicki | November 18, 2008
So I finally won a live tourney! Instead of playing the FTOPS last week, I decided to drive down to Borgata to play the $2K deepstack event. This is the 3rd time Borgata has run this tourney and it always gets a good field and the structure is great. I had a fairly easy time of accumulating chips the first 2 days of the tourney, and found myself around the middle of the pack going into the final 2 tables. I had been playing pretty loose and aggressive the first two days but realized the remaining field was much tougher and wouldn’t let me run them over. As much as I hated doing it, I forced myself to tighten up substantially. I ran pretty well at the final table and found myself 4 handed with 3 other very competent players. Usually I hate making deals, but I was the shortest stack, the blinds were pretty big, and the payout structure was very top heavy. Anyway, we each took 100k and left and extra 40k for 1st and 20k for 2nd. I picked up some big hands and ended up winning my first live tourney. It was a very cool experience.
My next live tourney will probably not be until PCA in January. Until then, I will continue looking for a home in the Philly area. I am also going on a road trip next month from Cali to Jersey. Hopefully, I’ll have some good stories for you all. That’s all for now.
