CEREUS (AP/UB) Tournament Result Feed
- thepokerdb | March 2, 2009
We had a slight issue over the past week. We were still collecting all data, it just wasn’t processing into the database. We’ve alleviated this problem, and all of the tournaments from the past week have been inserted into the system. We apologize for the delay. Again, zero data was lost.
2009 Online Poker Player of the Year
- thepokerdb | February 13, 2009
Bluff Magazine updated and released the 2009 Online Player of the Year numbers. Because the numbers lack relevance during the month of January, all links and promotion remained concentrated on the 2008 Online Player of the Year statistics. All of the Bluff Magazine’s Online Ranking numbers are updated on Wednesday of every week.
Online Poker Professional The Maven completely dominated the month of December, which lead to his being crowned the 2008 Online Poker Player of the Year. Read The Maven’s interview about how he was able to achive the goal of obtaining the OPOY honors.
Welcome to the thepokerdb blog
- thepokerdb | January 30, 2009
With the launch of the new bluffmagazine.com, we are also launching a new blogging platform. With the new platform, it gives us the flexibility to easily add new blogs and let all sorts of new bloggers start using our system. One of those new blogs is going to be a blog devoted specifically to thepokerdb, Bluff’s online poker tournament tracking database.
In terms of history, thepokerdb was founded in May 2005 by Nat Arem and Paul Shamilov. It was developed initially as a beta but, upon proving popular, was relaunched as a production-level site in the fall of 2005. Over the following 12 months, thepokerdb’s traffic and popularity increased by leaps and bounds prompting an acquisition by Bluff Media in December 2006. For the following few months, Bluff developers worked to redevelop thepokerdb and integrate it into Bluff Magazine’s website. In late March 2007, thepokerdb was moved from thepokerdb.com to bluffmagazine.com/thepokerdb and version 2.0 of the site was finally live. On January 29th, 2009, the latest version of thepokerdb (very similar to the previous one in terms of function, but taken to the next level in terms of design) was rolled out.
Going forward, we hope this blog will serve as a resource for us to communicate with thepokerdb’s valued users and subscribers. We will be posting regularly as bugs and problems arise, along with information about bug fixes and how we resolve any future issues. As this business is constantly evolving and technical issues are always coming up, we can’t promise that everything will always be correct — that’s where you can help. Report issues to us. Leave comments on this blog. Explain the problems that you’re seeing and what the data should look like. It’s nearly impossible for us to keep up with every bit of data from every site, so we rely on you to be our eyes and ears for many of the minute problems that can arise when collecting enormous amounts of data everyday.
Thank you very much for years of loyalty and we hope you like the new design,
Nat Arem
thepokerdb.com founder
UBOC Series Tournaments
- thepokerdb | January 26, 2009
UBOC Series All of the tournaments in the UBOC series were initially missed by thepokerdb’s scrapers. The problem has been solved and the results will be posted shortly. If you see that we have missed any of the events, please send the tournament ID to thepokerdb@bluffmedia.com and we’ll get it inserted right away. We apologize for the inconvenience.
PokerStars Missing SnG’s
- thepokerdb | January 10, 2009
The latest release of the PokerStars client caused some data gathering issues. They have since then been alleviated, but from the 5th of January through the 10th of January, we missed a few of the multi sng’s. If you feel that we’ve missed any of your results, please send the tournamentID to thepokerdb@bluffmedia.com and we’ll get it inserted right away. We apologize for the inconvenience.
UB Tourneys missing
- thepokerdb | December 17, 2008
On 11/25, UB changed their coding to match Absolute Poker, finalizing the Cereus Merger. With the change, all UB tourneys have been showing in thepokerdb as AP tourneys. We have been working on the problem and will have a solution to it shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience.
UB & AP Merge Into One (Cerius Network)
- thepokerdb | November 28, 2008
UltimateBet and Absolute Poker have finally transitioned into the single network of Cereus. We’ve been told that both platforms will have the same tournaments listed in both lobbies at all times. Since both platforms are running on the same network, some player names were changed. We’ve been promised a list of the name changes, and will make appropriate database changes when we receive the list. Since they are duplicated results, we are planning on only providing results for one of the platforms – yet to determine which one.
Please be patient with us during the migration.
Full Tilt Results Missing
- thepokerdb | October 20, 2008
On 10/13, Full Tilt released a software upgrade that caused our system to show $0.00 for all places finished. This affected tournaments played on 10/13-14. We are working with Full Tilt to fill in the numbers and should have them fixed very soon. Thanks for your patience.
Absolute Poker Tournaments
- thepokerdb | October 4, 2008
At about 1:00 AM on October 1st, Absolute Poker stopped displaying their completed and running tournaments on their client. Surely this is something that the are going to reverse back, but until then, we have no way of obtaining results for AP tournaments. I’ve contacted one of their lead developers and now waiting for his response. We’ll keep you all posted.
